PRAISE THE LORD WE HAVE HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO MINISTER HERE IN SANTAREM ANOTHER WONDERFUL YEAR. AND IT ISN'T OVER JUST YET. Our groups have come and gone for the most part. We still have Matt and we have Pastor Tim coming with Jan the 1st of December.
We began our year with Pr. Tim in February and he brought a great group with him. Our Lord was here also and I am sure He is pleased with the results of the work of this group. Then in March Pr. Randy brought Bob and we all went up the Arapiuns River. It has been a long time since we were there and we were able to get into some new villages. Next was our May group from Florida State University. WOW ! what a group of young people. They were full of energy and excitement. Scotty and Jan had forgotten what that much energy could do. We went to the Tapajos River this time and into some new villages there also. God blessed and He received glory and praise the whole trip. We look forward to having another team from FSU in the future. In June Junior, our Brazilian son came with a group from Covenant Christian High School in Indianapolis IN to do Sports Evangelism. They were a super bunch of young people. It will be interesting to watch them as they mature and see how they are influencing their world. Then next group was another Brazilian son. Wal brought a group from Somerset KY and we went up the Amazon River close to Obidos and went to 3 villages. One of which was new and we certainly received a blessing there. God continued to show His presence as we ministered to the people of these villages. We came away with so much love from the Brazilians then we were almost bursting at our seams. November brought pastor Gilbert and Rita from Somerset KY also. Again we set off up the Amazon River to 3 villages. One was new with them also and we met some very wonderful folks and of course fell in love with the kids again. Our Lord is so faithful in going ahead of us and preparing the people for what was to come. Praise His Holy Name, we were able to give out several hundred Bibles again this year because of those generous people back in the States that give so graciously to spread the Word of God. We had a great time with the last group. Well I (Scotty) did and Jan will have a great time as we look forward to the December trip after she gets here. She will be arriving home on December 1.
That brings us to December. OUR LAST TRIP OF THE YEAR. And maybe it is the most important also. We are still planning our SECOND ANNUAL CHRISTMAS TRIP. We will be going to 4 villages on the Arapiuns and Tapajos Rivers. We are planning on giving out clothes to 500 children on the 2 rivers. We will arrive at the village and have VBS in the morning and tell them the story about the Birth of our Lord Jesus. Then in the afternoon we will bring them back for a time of fun and fellowship and a visit from Santa. Every child will receive a present from Santa with his or her name on it. It will be personally for them. Then that evening we will go to the next village and do it again.
BUT THERE IS A CATCH. ALL THIS DEPENDS UPON YOU. WE CAN'T DO THIS OURSELVES WITH OUR SUPPORT INCOME. SO WE ARE DEPENDING ON YOU TO HELP. WE HAVE SOME CLOTHES BUT NOT ENOUGH YET. AND WE NEED MONEY FOR THE BOAT. THE BOAT ALONE IS ABOUT $3000.00 US DOLLARS. WHAT WE WANT FROM YOU IS FOR YOU TO PRAY ABOUT YOUR INVOLVEMENT IN THIS CHRISTMAS TRIP. SOME OF YOU WILL BE LIMITED TO PRAYING DUE TO FINANCIAL CIRCUMSTANCES. THAT IS OK. PRAYER IS POWERFUL AND WE NEED IT AS MUCH OR MORE THAN THE MONEY. PRAYER CAN BRING THE MONEY. OTHERS OF YOU COULD PAY THE WHOLE BILL. BUT DON'T TAKE THE BLESSING FROM THE OTHERS THAT WOULD GIVE TOO. PRAY FOR GOD TO LET YOU KNOW HOW YOU CAN HELP AND BE OBEDIENT IN DOING WHAT THE LORD TELLS YOU. GOD ALREADY KNOWS WHERE THE MONEY WILL COME FROM AND HE KNOWS WHO WILL BE OBEDIENT. ALL WE ASK IS TO LISTEN TO WHAT THE LORD JESUS IS TELLING YOU TO DO. HE IS FAITHFUL, ARE YOU?
